| More sewing |
[May. 18th, 2009|12:14 pm] |

I have finally organised myself enough to sory out photos of the sewing I did for Georgina and Phil's wedding. So if you dont want to see pictures of frocks dont ( click )
Also, the beautiful artnouveauho has sent me some amazing photos of the two corsets I made her. The first was realy a test piece to see how a different pattern worked.

( and another )
artnouveauho sent me the fabric for this one and I couldnt make myself just make an ordinary corset out of it, the size of the pattern meant it was crying out for something a little different, so this was the result!

I have been making an attempt to use up some of the fabric in my stash, inspired by madamekat I decided to try to make full outfits from the fabric stash without buying any extra bits. Here are the first couple, apologies for the quality of the pictures, I seem to have managed to get the first two outfits on the dummy slightly lopsided and the colout in the third is a bit harsh. A black linen late Victorian/Early Edwardian style skirt and top.

| Slightly less broken now |
[Mar. 17th, 2009|12:24 pm] |
|
Bones are knitting nicely, I am out of the sling and able to sew again (which is a good thing as I have a wedding dress and three bridesmaid dresses to finish for the start of April!). However, having had a spring clean when there was little else I could do I seem to have lost my bit of paper with all my sewing projects listed on it, please can you all remind me of anything I have promised to make for you and I will try to get back on track with things! |

A belated merry Christmas to all those of you I failed to visit/talk to/email/text, I hope you all had a lovely time. I have had a very relaxing four days of doing very little and am now pretty much over the lurgy that I had been having trouble shaking off and recovered from working stupid hours in the run up to Christmas. For those of you in or around London with an interest in ghost stories, Victorian literature or just looking for something a little different to do, I would highly recommend trying to go to see ‘Oh, Whistle...’ at the Barons Court Theatre (http://www.nunkie.co.uk/). The Barons Court Theatre is in the cellar of the Curtains Up pub, seats probably no more than about fifty people, and is the ideal location for this telling of two of M. R. James’ wonderfully chilling ghost stories. And in case I am as useless at new year as I was at Christmas, happy new year to all of you! |

| | exhausted | ] | Well Ladies and Germs, I have done it again, managed to come back from Whitby with no pictures (other than the one fracture242 took using my camera of the dog dressed as a spider). So can I ask if you have any pictures you wouldnt mind me stealing, particulary any of the small mountain of sewing I delivered to various people over the weekend. |

Life has been incredibly busy for the last few weeks, work is chaos, and the sewing mountain is getting silly again. The good news, however, is that next week my new chap will be moving in, he is a large, slightly erratic, ginger and white tom cat. The plans to become a strange old cat lady who lives in the middle of nowhere are coming along nicely. It also looks like I may be being paid to go to Spain to ride a horse.
For those of you who want to see pictures of corsets there are some more ( here ) |

The need to finish four corsets, a frock coat, a waistcoat, a doublet, two skirts, an arming jack, gamboised hose and a few other random bits for last weekend has left me little time to keep up to date with events here in LJ land, if I have missed anything important then my apologies. In other news, my impressive new bruise is begining to fade, I may be able to show my arms again by next week. |

Thank you to everyone who made my birthday weekend go with a bang (quite literally in one respect thanks to Fox and Dwarf!). I had a lovely weekend spent with some wonderful people, in no particular order it involved beer, tea and cake, wheelie bin jousting (thanks to my vailant steed steel_bonnet and to my 'mounting block'), silly frocks, a fitting for my shiny new toys, a red posing pouch (dont ask - you really dont want to know!), a bomb, new friends, old friends and not too many injuries from the scraps. What more could a girl ask for! |

| Tatton Park Medieval midsummer fair |
[May. 27th, 2008|12:00 pm] |
As I am sure many of you are already aware, Plantagenet Events kindly organise a big birthday party for me at Tatton Park each year, and this year is no exception. This years event takes place on the 14th and 15th of June. As usual there will be tea and cake on the Saturday after the public have left, if you have and particular requests for variety of cake please let me know. Saturday evening, due to popular demand, will also see the new and improved Wheelie bin jousting tournament along with the inaugural space hopper tug of war competition. Karen from Plantagenet Events has asked me to tell people that, as usual, she regrets that giraffes are not permitted anywhere within the park. Finally, for those of you who are only here for the pretty pictures, here is a photo of the purple glitter corset I made for Rosie Lugosi for the Club Lash 10th birthday party.

I am now the proud owner of a shed. It is a good shed, if a bit wonkey in places, held together with bits of Gordon Banks (long story - probably best not to ask!).
For those of you uninterested in sheds, here is the penultimate set of Fish docks photos. This was a request from the lovely toripink for 'something that wasnt black that she could wear for a wedding'. It gave me a chance to use some beautiful shot dupion silk I had in my stash.
